Men Need To Step Up

TRIGGER WARNING (rape) ⚠️ I had a funny video all lined up for tonight but I can’t share it because I can’t get the image of 30 men lining up to rape a child out of my mind. I can’t get beyond the idea that 30 men waited their turn to go one by one as if they were taking a ride in a funfair and never once, in all the time it took to rape that girl, not ONE of them tried to stop it. To get help. To go against whatever “man code” “mad code” “rape code” they had going on. Not one. Not number 10, not number 19, not even number 26... no one. Here’s the deal guys - It’s time men stepped up. It’s not enough to not be a rapist, it’s time to call the predictors out and to expose them at every level! I’ve been talking about Rape Culture for the past few days because it includes way more than just violence. It includes objectifying, harassing and disrespecting boundaries. It included guy jokes in the locker room, the unsolicited dick picks, all of it, and if we’re being honest - most men probably witness this behaviour daily and look the other way because it seems harmless. But it’s not harmless. It’s the seed that eventually leads to 30 guys raping a girl in a toilet one by one. It’s the foundation that type of feeling that ‘you have a right to it’ is based on. And It’s not enough to just not to take part, it’s time we all actively DID SOMETHING to end it. So that next time there are 30 men standing in line to rape a girl, someone might actually stop it! It’s up to every one of us, MEN INCLUDED (even more than women) to not accept any of those behaviours as the “norm”. So tonight I urge the men that follow my page to be vocal if and when they can. Do not look the other way when your mate makes a derogatory joke. Do not be that guy. Ask yourself if you’d like anyone talking about your daughter like that? And if the answer is “no” don’t accept it no matter who’s daughter it is. Who’s mother, sister, wife or friend. So that next time maybe number 1 might actually come to his senses, or better yet - maybe there will be no “next time”🙏 #rape #rapeculture #together
