Stop Telling Girls They Can Look Like Kendall
I happen to come across a story on @poosh today that stated “how to get a long - lean figure” using @kendalljenner image as a reference.
I know social media is all about clickbait - we all do it (I just did) and I’m not saying there aren’t workouts that can potentially elongate your limbs somewhat (like, stretching is good for you, for sure). But to say someone can actually exercise their way into looking like Kendall is absurd and more importantly- dangerous. I was 15 years old when I had an eating disorder. To be honest I’ve never referred to it as such till just now. It wasn’t bulimia or anorexia so I considered it to be the “normal” self loathing most teenaged girls feel, but the reality was that as some point I lost so much weight that my periods stopped. On some days I only ate one ice lolly. And my father would make me get on the sacred to check I hadn’t dropped below a certain weight that was considered okay and I hid stones in my pockets when he did this. Young girls are watching @kourtneykardash and we should do better for them. We should promote a healthy lifestyle but also add disclaimers where needed and not promise false results. I find it ridiculous having to say this but here goes - no amount of stretching in the world will make any of us look like Kendall. Ever. But for the sake of any teenager out there who hates herself because her body type is not long and lean, please know it’s okay! And no, you will not look like Kendall even if you do follow the roadmap set out on their website. I wish someone told me that when I was 15 and desperately wanted to be taller and have no boobs... I wish someone had said “this is your body type and it’s fine”. I hope whoever needed to hear this today has. And I hope those with big platforms start acting more responsibly towards the people who follow them. Life can’t just be about ad revenue, sometimes you just gotta do the right thing ❤️ *Please NO BODY SHAMING in the comments! This is not about Kendal’s body, I ask you to all be respectful ❤️🙏💪🏻😘
