WHY PEOPLE ARE REALLY UPSET ABOUT THE MEGHAN INTERVIEW

I’ve watched the interview twice and can’t find a single explanation for the outrage some people and members of the press have expressed in response to it. Piers Morgan referred to Meghan’s words about the Queen as “disgusting” several times yesterday on Good Morning Britain but after watching it I honestly could not find one bad thing she or Harry said about her personally. The only conclusion I’ve reached is that this is not really why people are so upset, so let’s be honest about it. Apart from the racism which is undeniable, apart from the parallels to Diana and all of the other more obvious reasons why some people (and some of the press) love to hate Meghan - let’s not forget the other reason that has allowed this witch-hunt to continue, and that is: misogyny. In a world that still likes its women saints or villains, wives or whores, victims or bitches, controlling or crazy, there simply is no room for a strong independent woman taking charge of her own narrative. Let alone a mix raced, divorcee, foreign woman. It’s just not what sells papers or what we are used to. We are used to women being portrayed in a certain way to the point that most of the time we don’t even question it 🤦🏼‍♀️or know how to handle it when someone breaks out of formation 🤷‍♀️ Well maybe it’s time we did 💪🏻 I realise this is potentially a polarising topic but it doesn’t have to be. Truth be told, you can love the royal family and still see why this interview was important, for women, for people of colour, and for anyone who was ever trolled, bullied and/or had mental health issues. I truly hope this interview will prompt important conversations about race, how we deal with mental health, bullying and how women are treated by the press. But most of all I hope this interview gives others courage to speak their own truth and be strong when faced with bias and hate. You’re not alone ❤️#meghanmarkle#princeharry#love#women ❤️
